Southern California Edison is advising residents in Ventura County to prepare for their power to possibly be shut off. The planned black-outs will take on a “sense of urgency” during high winds and hot temperatures.
Don Daigler, SCE Director of Business Resiliency, jokingly compared SCE to God in a recent interview “Nobody likes to have their power turned off for any reasons, whether it’s God or us doing it.”
"Our customers are even more reliant on power than they've historically been because everybody's at home. And as such, we have to take added measures that the most vulnerable portions of our customer base are protected."
Don urgently confirmed that the pandemic adds a new layer of problems for an outage. “Hopefully SCE hears our prayers and doesn’t turn off my power,” one Ventura resident stated.
SCE highly recommends you prepare. They have notified medical facilities, testing sites and eldery care centers to have generators in place and a rolling blackout plan.
